i want to tell you where these last songs actually came from, because i don't think i've ever said it properly. most of them were written at 4am in the old glass room at the back of the house, the one that looks out on nothing but dark garden. i couldn't sleep for most of last winter, so instead of fighting it i started bringing a little keyboard in there and letting whatever was underneath come up. half of the deluxe is that. the sleeplessness, the strange peace of being the only one awake. this is the room. it still smells like cold and coffee 🖤
